Walt Whitman Art's Center's mission is to use world class artists and arts programs to contribute to the revitalization of Camden. Our programs range from innovative mainstage theater, music and dance presentations to neighborhood-based public arts projects and classes in diverse mediums serving pre-schoolers through senior citizens. Anchoring this work for the next generation is a comprehensive arts education program bringing multi-cultural live assemblies as well as hands on arts workshops to our local schools in addition to free summer children's theater presented at the center. Walt Whitman Arts Center proudly
presents
The Walt Whitman Arts Center proudly
presents an original work that brings together world class artists and
Camden City residents in a perfect dance, song, and musical production, Spirit of Camden – Resurrection
through Dance. The
former Alvin Ailey and Dance Theater of Harlem trained choreographer,
Maureen Henighan Booker,
uses the city of Camden as the landscape to create pieces that capture
the juxtaposition of the perceived state of Camden and the actual talent
that exists here. The work honors Ben White, a Camden school teacher,
who spent 20+ years exposing Camden youth to diverse arts and theater
events. Ticket Information:
$20
for Sept 28th performance – all seats; $20 for Sept 29th.
Student discounts
available for Sept 29th performance with
