June 27: Anne Pasquale is “Deborah Sampson” - The American Revolution’s only acknowledged female combat veteran. At the age of 21, she wished to fight for her own independence. She wove her own military uniform, enlisted in the Continental Army in 1782 and served for 18 months, pretending to be a man.  Sampson fought honorably and was wounded. When a surgeon discovered her secret, she was given an honorable discharge. Nine years later, she received payment and official recognition as a veteran of the Revolutionary War. “Deborah Sampson” is a high-energy play that employs the art of quick-change participatory reenactments, and a touch of stage combat. (Recommended for ages 8-15)

July 11: Anansi The Trickster – Family Stages – This play brings to life the legend of Anansi the Spider. The Sky-god, Nyame, kept all the stories in the world locked away from everyone. Nyame would release the stories if Anansi could bring him the Hungry Python, the Sharp-toothed Leopard, the Stinging Hornets and the Unseen Fairy. From that day forward, Anansi could not only spin webs: he was able to spin the most fantastic stories of all.
